Beautiful Tarot Decks + Why You Need Them

I think it's safe to say that we all grew up with some awareness surrounding ouija boards, tarot cards and psychic talk being linked with demonic possession, summoning dark spirits, or some other extremely far out perspective. I'm here to say that despite what you may have heard, tarot cards are fucking badass.

I'm not someone who is terribly consistent when it comes to meditation and spiritual practice to calm the mind, but somehow I've managed to keep tarot readings in my daily life. Reading the tarot began for me (oddly) after I read an article in Vogue, of all places! The article outlined a really minimalistic and lovely hand-drawn deck by Rachel Howe of Small Spells and a few tarot tips for beginners (it's so worth the read!). I began tapping into the concept that maybe this practice was just another way to center our minds and really get in touch with what's going on in our lives.

For me, personally, I turn to my cards everyday. I reflect on serious things, small things, things that have happened, things that haven't happened yet, relationships, career goals, and the list goes on and on. When it comes to what I actually get from reading the cards, I guess I haven't made up my mind. Usually, I debate whether 1) I'm manifesting and attracting the cards with specific meanings and answers that I desire/am afraid of surrounding a specific topic OR 2) It genuinely is just a random shuffling act, and I answer my own questions through self-reflection and interpretation of the cards. Either way, this is an incredible centering and grounding practice for me, and I have a lot of fun collecting fun and unique decks.
