What Am I Sipping? Collab with Georges Duboeuf Wines
Okay, so I'm pretty sure by now we've experienced our fair share of awkward holiday conversations, nostalgic music, and food that makes you want to pop after you eat it. As much as we love to hate the holidays, they are such an important time to come together with whoever it is that you call family. For us, we enjoyed a quiet afternoon with our neighbors, which just so happen to be Collin's sister's family! I loved running around their home with their oldest daughter, Scarlett, and then cradling my youngest niece, Solenne in the warmth of their home.
We all cooked and cleaned together, laughed and enjoyed a bottle of wine. We danced around, we discussed politics, music, new projects in each of our lives, and future plans. It was such a refreshing day, especially after the past few months. Sheesh!
As health-conscious as I may appear to be, I totally believe in balance. My favorite splurge?! Wine! I love mostly all kinds, mainly red and rosé. My favorite of the moment?! George Duboeuf.
Harvesting of this wine is done manually, in whole bunches, from vines that are over 20 years old. The wine is produced using traditional vinification methods that include carbonic maceration. Tasting notes? The 2016 Beaujolais Nouveau displays a shimmering carmine color. Fresh aromas of red and black fruits, strawberry jam with hints of peach on the nose. It is fresh, fruity and flavorful on the palate. Delicious finish. Best served slightly chilled.
We absolutely love pairing this wine with some gourmet (or homemade!) cashew cheeses, especially those with herbs, maybe adding in a salty, crunchy cracker. These two wines are so unique in that you can enjoy them chilled. I usually do not try that out with a red wine, but I really enjoyed doing so. Personally, I don't love super sweet wines, but these are delicately balanced. So divine!
I also adore the fact that the Duboeuf family has been crafting wine for four centuries. Four. Centuries. WHAT?! You've got to expect someone to create a superior bottle of wine after perfecting the craft for so long. You can read all of the incredible history behind the brand here.
I mean, I'm not saying that you need alcohol to survive the holidays, but sometimes it really helps! ;)
What's your favorite fall-beverage? If it's red wine, what's your favorite pairing? Over in this plant-based world, I love a good red with sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and steamed kale. Maybe a dash of cinnamon? Yum!
